菲律賓當地媒體報導，南部大城達沃市（Davao city）日前經民眾檢舉，發現在市場購買的的米竟是「假米」，國家糧食署（NFA）檢驗後發現摻有用於讓塑膠柔軟或是黏接功能、常用於化妝品的塑化劑鄰苯二甲酸二丁酯（dibutyl pthalate，DBP）。這種假米泡水擠壓後會滲水，且用手搓揉會變成粉粒狀，和具黏性的一般白米不同。
總統府糧食安全事務助理潘吉里納（Francis Pangilinan）指出，少量攝入DBP對人體不會有太大影響，但如果大量攝取或長期吸入被認為是有害的，且在動物實驗中，是有可能造成生殖能力受損。他表示，目前雖然有了初步檢驗結果，但還沒有定論，提醒菲律賓民眾提高警覺。
國家糧食署行政官員達利西（Renan Dalisay）則表示，菲律賓並不具備合適的設備進行後續檢驗，包括澱粉含量跟重金屬含量等，將送往美國等地進行試驗。
而有報導指出，假米可能是在中國生產的，可以在煮熟後3個星期都不會壞掉，是用馬鈴薯、地瓜甚至玉米和樹脂製成。報導稱這些假米可能已被銷往印度、印尼、馬來西亞、越南和菲律賓等地，當局也將針對由中國進口銷售的白米進行檢查。而詳細的檢驗結果和假米散播情形，則有待進一步調查。
小編評：又是假米新聞，雖然這次沒寫是塑膠米，而是寫含塑化劑DBP的假米，不過希望不要重蹈兩個月前塑膠米謠言的覆轍啊！

A plasticizer contaminant was found in samples of suspected synthetic rice obtained from Davao City, the National Food Authority (NFA) said yesterday.
Food security chief Francis Pangilinan, who oversees the state grains procurement agency, said the samples were found to contain dibutyl phthalate (DBP), a plasticizer used for the manufacture of cosmetics.

Though DBP was found only in the Davao sample, all the reported “fake rice” looked like styrofoam, prompting complaints by citizens.
But the tests showed that the samples were still rice, but in a degraded form.
RITM tests showed that the alleged fake rice is “morphologically different” from cooked NFA rice because it seemed to have undergone a series of quick freezing, thawing, and heating.
“When rice undergoes quick freezing, many small ice crystals form in and out of cells. Water will ooze out and you will get a spongy, styrofoam-like structure,” said Sales.
She likened retrograded rice to stale bread. Though dry, it is safe for eating, she added.
More tests confirmed that, despite its bad condition, it is still rice.
A DNA analysis by PhilRice showed that the rice sample was “positive for rice DNA.” IRRI tests supported the PhilRice finding.

“If it has plasticizers, these might have leached out of the packaging materials, especially if it has been exposed to high temperatures during storage, shipment or handling,”
Ma. Concepcion Lizada, professor emeritus of UP Food Science, stressed that she was not familiar with the nature of the “fake rice” being sold in Davao City that has caused a health or nutrition scare.
小編評：確定是米沒錯，不過是被汙染的舊米，安全下庄，結案。
小編稍微做些重點補充，實驗結果，只有這批樣品米有驗出塑化劑（其他市售米則沒剪出塑化劑），這檢出塑化劑的米經DNA檢驗確認是米沒錯，只不過是「陳米」，在儲存過程中速凍解凍遇熱造成結構類似塑膠的空洞化，也就是儲存不當劣質化。而這批檢出塑化劑的劣米含DBP的原因，推測是塑膠包材與劣米接觸，在高溫不適當的環境中塑化劑遷移所造成的。

菲律賓國家糧食署(NFA)宣布，菲律賓市面沒有販賣假米，網路上的種種「假米」影片、傳言均無可靠依據。糧食署官員表示，針對菲國各地主要市場白米樣本所作檢驗，均有澱粉顆粒、澱粉成分以及其他白米特質，經煮熟後檢驗，也未發現化學成分或添加物。
上週，菲國多名臉友上傳影片，聲稱買到假米。一名臉友還把「假米」煮熟後搓成糰擲到地板，竟會反彈，他留言「簡直就是橡皮」。這名臉友的貼文或被刪除、或更改隱私設定，現已無法瀏覽。
